NFL Playoff Matchups And Betting Odds

This coming wild card weekend kicks off with four titillating matchups, and potential bettors are probably wondering about states that have sports betting to see if they can get in on these crazy awesome odds. With online sportsbooks, residents from all fifty states will have great options. These teams squaring off are not only exciting stepping-stones to Super Bowl 50, but are also opportunities to place lucrative wagers, and win big. Just as these playoff teams are ready to throw down for title and glory, so too are bettors excited for cash and triumph.

Saturday’s first game is between No.5 Chiefs and No. 4 Texans staring at 4:35pm EST., on ABC. Most everyone feels that these two teams are lucky to even be in the playoffs given their record throughout the season, picking off feeble teams, while reaping the benefits of a lax schedule. The Chiefs lack any push back, even with a ten game winning streak, they are playing like new born babes. The Texans are much the same, with wins over teams like Indianapolis, and Tennessee. The Texans do have JJ Watt who’s woken up and gotten 13.5 sacks within the last ten games. The predictions vary with the chiefs winning by at least a touchdown. The betting odds for the Chiefs are -180 and the Texans +160, according to SportsBetting.ag.

The second matchup for Saturday is the Steelers VS. Bengals at 8:15pm EST. on CBS. The Steelers (-154) seem to be at a disadvantage as their RB DeAngelo Williams was out during practice with an injury. Williams was a major factor during the last game between these two teams, when the Steelers  won by a 13 point lead. However, Cincinnati (+134) does have one of the top defenses in the league, and they will push back when opponents cross into their territory. Many bettors may wager against the spread with this one.

Sunday bloody Sunday, of the wild card weekend starts out with the Seahawks and the Vikings going toe-to-toe. The game begins at 1:05pm EST. on NBC. The Seahawks (-210) No.6 seed, expect that Marshawn Lynch will definitely be back for this game, even if he won’t get fined. The Seahawks have already delivered a blistering ass beating to the Vikings, winning 38-7; it is hard to imagine them returning the favor. The Vikings (+180) seem to have only one redeeming quality, which is rusher Adrian Peterson. The Vikings major fall back is having a QB Teddy Bridgewater, that can’t for the life of him get his shit together.

The final wild card game comes on Sunday, afternoon at 4:40 EST on FOX. The Packers (-112) are only slightly favorited over Washington. Green Bay’s offensive line is a joke at this point, a long painful drawn out one. Aaron Rodgers should be glad he can still stand up after 47 sacks in the regular season. Not only should he worry about his lack of coverage, but his lack of playing as starter as well. Washington (-108) has a four game winning streak, even if it is over cupcake teams. If Washington can stick to doing what they do best and play zone-oriented defense then they might be alright. There is no favorite in this matchup, only a slight advantage, although Washington is predicted to win.

NFL Free Agency Props Heating Up As March 10th Deadline Approaches

NFLThe NFL free agent signing period is right around the corner.  Beginning March 10th, some of the biggest names in professional football will be sporting new colors and maybe even filling swimming pools with cash because… why not?  It’s time for teams who have taken good care of their salary cap to start throwing around great big piles of cash.  Will these players be overpaid?  Sure, but if they wind up being a contributing piece to a Super Bowl run, no one will be complaining about the price tag.

As such, many of the best USA sportsbooks like Bovada have released several player props as to which jerseys they will take the field in come week one of the NFL season.

Perhaps the most intriguing case this NFL offseason is that of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.  While conventional wisdom is that the running back position has been de-valued, there is always the exception that proves the rule and in the case of Peterson, even though he’s not even technically a free agent, there should be a long line of interested suitors.

Following an ugly legal situation which led to a year-long suspension for Peterson, speculations of a trade heated up once the regular season ended.  Even so, the Vikings are the favorite to hang onto him for the time being with odds of 5/6.  The Dallas Cowboys (9/4) have been public about courting Peterson, and are seen as the most likely landing spot if Peterson were to run out of town.  Also in play are the Indianapolis Colts (5/1,) Arizona Cardinals, (9/1) and San Diego Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  A bet on either of those longshots would warrant a $10 profit for every $1 wagered.

Bovada NFL Wagering - Game Lines, Props, Futures + More! The most interesting free agent who will technically hit the market is Ndamukong Suh.  It’s rare a player of Suh’s caliber ever hits the open market, and come mid-March, he will surely be one of the highest paid players in the league.  While the Detroit Lions are still technically in the running to retain his services, Bovada doesn’t think it very likely.  The line on Suh remaining in Detroit is (+200,) or 2/1 in fractional odds.

Other high profile free agents in this class are DeMarco Murray who led the NFL in rushing last year.  He is a slight favorite to leave home with a line of (-140) to leave, and even odds to be on the Cowboys roster come week one of the regular season.  One more free agent betting line is for current Green Bay Packers slot receiver Randall Cobb.  He is an overwhelming favorite to stay in Green Bay with is hall-of-fame caliber quarterback (-300) versus leaving, (+200) but the beautiful thing about the salary cap era in the NFL is you can never really tell.

Seattle Seahawks Have Opportunity To Repeat Super Bowl Title Versus New England Patriots

Seahawks vs. PatriotsThe two conference championship games on Sunday couldn’t haven’t been more different. In the NFC, it took a pseudo miracle for the Seattle Seahawks to come back and win at home over the Green Bay Packers. In the AFC, it was a dominating performance by the New England Patriots in a game that was decided early on in the third quarter.

But while the Seahawks looked like a lucky team to get by at home and move on to a second-straight Super Bowl, it’s Seattle that is still being considered the slight favorite.

Looking at the NFC Championship, it’s still hard to fathom how the Seahawks were able to squeak that one out. It was a series of perfect events; or a series of unfortunate events if you are a member of the Packers or their fan base.

It started with a successful fake field goal by Seattle to get the goose egg off of the scoreboard in the third quarter. But even after that, the Seahawks found themselves down 19-7 late in the fourth quarter.

And then things got really interesting…

Another touchdown, a botched onside kicks by Green Bay, another touchdown, and the perhaps the first Hail Mary in a two-point conversion equated to a 22-19 Seahawks lead in the span of about a minute on the clock.

A team of destiny? Perhaps.

Or maybe it’s just a team that is able to pick up the slack when one or several aspects to it are struggling.

Seattle has the opportunity to win back-to-back Super Bowls, and if they are successful, they would have defeated Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in the process.

How about that one for the Super Bowl resume’?

But to beat the Patriots, the Seahawks will not be able to turn the ball over four times and live to tell the tale. New England is not Green Bay. The Patriots have been on a tear in the second half of the season, and proved that they are a complete team capable of playing great defense and running the football down the opponent’s throat.

When looking at it, the two teams in Super Bowl 49 show some remarkable similarities. It’s what makes the Super Bowl XLIX point spread so close. In fact on many online sportsbooks the line sits at even money as a pick’em. In others, it’s Seattle as about a one-point favorite.

Over the coming days there will be plenty of predictions to how this game will go. Experts can go back and forth talking about how they are sure this game will turn out a certain way. But if the conference championships taught us anything, we are probably in for several ‘wow’ moments.
