New England Patriots Sign Tim Tebow

Tebow To PatriotsWell, Tim Tebow has a new home.

It was reported on Monday that the New England Patriots have signed Tebow as a quarterback to come in the offseason and compete. Tebow will be back with Josh McDaniels, the former Denver Broncos head coach who drafted him in the first round. McDaniels has since fired from Denver, and is now back in the position of offensive coordinator with the Patriots, the position that he held prior to his stint with the Broncos.

Tebow will come in and try to cement his position as the backup quarterback behind Tom Brady. Currently in that position is Ryan Mallett. The move hopes to inspire some competition, and you can bet will get plenty of attention as New England prepares for the upcoming minicamps.

But really, when it comes to handling the media is there any team that does it better than the Patriots?

Have you not heard of the term coined, ‘the Patriot way’?

If Bill Belichick decided to bring Tebow in, he did it for a specific reason and believes that he will be able to compete and contribute. They will find a way to use him in different scenarios on offense.

The one thing that is certainly different about Tebow being in New England versus being a member of the Jets is the fact that he will not create controversy in terms of the media wondering if he will become the starter. In New York, we knew that was going to happen because of the fact that Mark Sanchez has had his struggles.

In New England, as long as Brady is standing upright, he will be the starter, there is no doubt about that.

So in that sense, it’s sort of an entirely new role for Tebow, knowing that he is going in to be the backup quarterback, and compete for that position. It could certainly have an effect on how he practices, with time for him to really get down to his mechanics and learning the offense. he will have time to do just that, without answering questions about him trying to become the starter.
