Three-Way Tie Atop Super Bowl Odds Through Week 6

The Atlanta Falcons might be the only undefeated team left in the NFL through six weeks of the season, but that still hasn’t been enough to convince oddsmakers that they are the team to beat when it comes to the Super Bowl.

In fact, they barely make it into the top-five.

Huh?

Ok, well let’s look at who is in front of them on Bovada Sportsbook’s latest Super Bowl XLVII betting odds that were released following Denver’s great Monday Night comeback against San Diego last night.

There is a three-way tie at the top of the list of Super Bowl favorites. The Houston Texans, New England Patriots, and San Francisco 49ers have all been set with odds at 6/1

What do these three teams have in common?

They all lost in Week 6, two of which were playing at home (Texans, 49ers).

The Texans were dominated by Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in a blowout 42-24 loss on Sunday Night Football. The Patriots were knocked around by the Seahawks, and sit at just 3-3 on the season. The 49ers vulnerabilities were on full display, as they were beat down at home by the New York Giants.

So I have to wonder what in the world oddsmakers are thinking right now?

Apparently winning in this league doesn’t count for very much. I will give you that Houston is still 5-1 after the loss and has looked great all season. But the Falcons have three more wins than the the Patriots and two more than San Francisco. The Falcons have not had a game where they looked inept and were dominated.

I would put Atlanta over both San Francisco and New England, and right on the level with Houston, maybe even ahead of them.

Furthermore, I would take the Giants and Bears and thrust them ahead of the Patriots at the very least, and perhaps even San Francisco. After all, the Giants are 2-0 against the 49ers in their last two meeting, both of which came on San Francisco’s home field.

I guess the best thing I can tell you is to take advantage of these odds right now, and get some good betting lines on the teams that I mentioned.
