What We Learned In Week 8 Of The NFL

We have reached the midway point of the 2012 NFL season, as teams prepare to make a run in the second half towards a playoff push. There are certainly some teams that have set themselves up better than others, while those who have fallen into an early hole will have to find ways to win fast.

In Week 8 of the season, we certainly saw some things to take note of, and could be in for some great storylines coming into Week 9.

What We Learned….

1. The Atlanta Falcons Are The Best Team In The NFL

The Falcons dominated the Philadelphia Eagles in a 30-17 win on Sunday. and while many are quick to jump on the the disappointment of the Eagles, this win says a lot more about the Falcons. Atlanta is 7-0 on the season and the only undefeated team in the league. They are 7-0 for a reason. They are just plain good, on both sides of the ball. Matt Ryan is quickly becoming one of the best quarterbacks in the leagues, and frankly looks like Peyton Manning running the no huddle offense.

Yea, I said it.

2. We Could Be In For A QB Change In Philadelphia

At the very least, we know that Eagles head coach Andy Reid has talked about a quarterback change with Michael Vick. Vick eluded to that fact in a press conference after the loss to Atlanta, whether intentionally or unintentionally. We could see rookie quarterback out of Arizona Nick Foles get some snaps as Philadelphia tries to get something going before it’s too late and the season is lost.

3. Parody In The NFL Is Great

The phrase ‘any given Sunday’ has never been more appropriate. On Sunday we saw two one-win teams give two of the Super Bowl favorites a run for their money, with the Green Bay Packers surviving at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Chicago Bears also narrowly escaping at home against the Carolina Panthers. Teams need to be on guard every week. It’s tough to win in this league.

4. The Cowboys Keep Finding Ways To Lose

Has there been a team in the NFL recently like the Dallas Cowboys, who seem to always find a way to lose the big games? That was evident again on Sunday, after the cowboys mounted a fantastic comeback against the New York Giants, only to lose on a heartbreaking call with Dez Bryant’s fingertips going out of bounds on what was thought to be a touchdown. Dallas doesn’t just lose, they lose in incredible ways.
