Jets Prove You Can’t Read Too Much Into Preseason

No offense? That is so preseason.

The New York Jets put all questions to rest, at least for now, on the state of their alleged inept offense that was showcased during the preseason.

All that Mark Sanchez and the Jets did was hang 48 points on Buffalo in a Week 1 win to kick off the 2012 regular season.

Albeit the concerns were just, seeing as how New York scored one offensive touchdown in four preseason games, it does show just how little stock you should put into the performance of teams during the preseason.

It’s the regular season that counts, and thus the regular season where the criticism should be drawn.

And after the three-touchdown performance by Sanchez, he has silenced doubters for now. But of course we will have to talk about Week 2 next week in this what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league. But we can say that this 48-point outing was a legitimate surprise.

Talk about not showing your complete hand in the preseason.

And what is more impressive is that people were really high up on the new defense that was put together in Buffalo, led by the signing of defensive lineman Mario Williams. That defense looked lost today, but there are still 15 games to be played.

You’ve got to think that the Jets performance on offense will get the full attention of the Pittsburgh Steelers next week. Though Pittsburgh will have gotten a full dose of Peyton Manning after Week 1, then moving on to Sanchez.

Still, it will be very interesting to see how New York follows their Week 1 act up in Week 2 of the NFL Season, as they have be oozing confidence.
