Missouri DE Michael Same Comes Out; NFL Reaction Seems To Be Mixed

Michael SamNever in the history of the NFL has there been an openly gay active player. That could change in a few months however, or at least it should.

The stereotype for a gay athlete centers on a position that might not be very physical, or if it is, that player would not excel. But in the case of Missouri defensive end Michael Sam, that could not be further from the truth. Continue reading

How Dominant Was Seattle In Their Super Bowl XLVIII Win Over Denver?

Seahawks Win Super BowlThere were plenty of people and analysts that picked the Seattle Seahawks to pull off the minor upset in Super Bowl XLVIII over the Denver Broncos. But no one really expected to see what transpired.

From the moment the game kicked off it seemed like the day would belong to Seattle. When the first snap from scrimmage sailed over Peyton Manning’s head while he was making adjustments at the line and recorded a safety, nothing went right. Continue reading

Weather Forecast Stealing The Show Leading Up To Super Bowl 48

MetLife StadiumYou can’t tune into more than five minutes of Super Bowl coverage without one element consistently being brought up.

The weather.

But it’s a very critical element to the matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48. With the game being played outdoors in MetLife Stadium (home of the Giants/Jets) in February, it’s a cause for concern. But this is what the NFL signed up for. They knew that by doing this the game would be subject to the weather conditions throughout the week. Continue reading

Predicting The Outcome Of Super Bowl 48; Broncos vs. Seahawks

Seahawks vs. BroncosWell, the Super Bowl matchup is set. The Denver Broncos will face the Seattle Seahawks. It will be a battle of two teams with completely different styles, led by a quarterback that is a future hall-of-famer, and another that might be the future of the NFL.

Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson couldn’t be at more different places in their careers. But those differences have led them to a matchup in two weeks with the Super Bowl on the line. Continue reading

Predicting Conference Championship Weekend: Who Makes Super Bowl 48

Tom Brady And Peyton ManningWe couldn’t have asked for two better conference championship matchups this week. While fans will have their bias, the fact of the matter is that the four best teams in the NFL are still alive with a berth in Super Bowl 48 on the line.

But which teams will get the job done on Sunday and advance? Let’s take a look and make a couple of predictions. Continue reading

San Francisco 49ers The Team To Beat In The Playoffs?

San Francisco 49ersIn recent history it hasn’t mattered whether a team entering the NFL playoffs has home field advantage. The results have gone the way of the team that is playing the best over the course of the final weeks in the regular season and carrying that over into the postseason. The San Francisco 49ers might be that team in the 2014 NFL playoffs.

The 49ers won six-straight games to close out the regular season. Despite posting a 12-4 record San Francisco did not win the division. They finished one game behind Seattle and earned the No.5 seed as a wildcard. Over the weekend, the challenge was to go into Green Bay and play the Packers in frigid conditions. The game-time temperature was 5 degrees, but by the second half was 1 degree with a windchill well below zero. Continue reading

Predicting The 2014 NFL Playoffs; Who Wins Super Bowl 48?

Peyton ManningWith the start of the 2014 NFL playoffs upon us, the logical question to ask is which of the 12 teams remaining with a chance to win the Super Bowl will complete the quest?

It’s been clear for quite some time that oddsmakers favor a matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos on Super Bowl 48 betting lines. As it stands, that looks like an obvious choice. Both are the No.1 seeds in their respective conferences, which means if they are to lose, a team would have to come and beat them. Continue reading

Peyton Manning Sets New Single-Season Touchdown Mark; Can Still Add In Week 17

Peyton ManningPeyton Manning set the single-season record for most touchdown passes…..again.

Manning threw three four-quarter touchdown passes and four overall on Sunday against the Houston Texans to reach the milestone of 51. That broke Tom Brady’s 2007 mark of 50 touchdown passes. Coincidentally, Brady broke Manning’s old record of touchdown passes (49) by one as well. Continue reading

With Two Weeks To Go In The NFL Season Only One Division Has Been Decided

Bears vs. LionsThe NFL has to like how the 2013 regular season has shaped up so far. With just two weeks to go, there is only one division that has been decided – the AFC South won by Indianapolis. There are several other playoff berths that have been clinched, but the division winners for the most part are still yet to be determined.

That means that teams still have a lot to play for and will try to win their respective divisions in order to earn home playoff games + the highest seed possible. And what’s more, is that there is the potential for the majority of these divisions to go into Week 17 still relatively undecided – depending on the outcome of the week 16 results. Continue reading

Can The Eagles Challenge The Saints Or Seahawks In The Playoffs?

Philadelphia EaglesDon’t look now, but the Philadelphia Eagles are coming on stronger than any other team in the NFL in the second half of the season. In fact, the Eagles are a perfect 5-0 during their back half, and have not lost since the end of October.

The Eagles currently sit at 8-5 on the season and thanks to the loss by Dallas Monday night to the Bears, are a full game up on the Cowboys in the NFC East. Continue reading
